Hmm last films I watched were The Velvet Queen (nature documentary in Tibet) and In from the Side (gay rugby players forbidden lovers trope). Going to see Cairo Conspiracy tomorrow and hopefully The Blue Caftan somewhere next week.

I hope we're getting Polite Society soon.

I think I'm seeing Air tonight. And I really want to get to a showing of Return of the Jedi sometime next week.

I am interested in Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, which I didn't know was coming out til like last week. If they are advertising it, I am certainly not in the target audience, lol.

I would be more interested in Polite Society if the trailer didn't literally show the entire movie - hate that so much. If I was at home, I would have just turned it off, but I've seen it in theaters like four or five times now.

Saw Carmen last weekend and very much enjoyed! While I do think it was clearly an early directorial effort, and the plot is extremely straightforward, I liked the imagery, the stylistic choices and the acting. This is the best Melissa Barrera has been, and she's still a little stiff - truly hoping she can loosen up a bit. Paul Mescal was great - he's not a dancer, but his physicality worked nicely for his part.

Feeling very behind on other movies I wanted to watch, but movies roll through theaters here so fast that it's hard to catch up. Hopefully we can get to something in the next week.

Seeing Polite Society and Are You There God? on Sat/Sun; the good reviews for both won me over. Sisu looks...maybe entertaining, but also maybe not my thing, lol. I saw R.M.N. at NYFF and I liked it a lot, esp. the insane town meeting scene (which is one very VERY long take with many overlapping speakers, largely off-screen).

I guess I'll watch the new Peter Pan on D+, but I'm not very excited about it. Nor for GotG 3 next weekend, alas.
