I'm still seething that Elon decided to start charging for the API (and not telling anyone WHEN it would take effect) so now I can't see old tweets on Timehop. Was literally the only reason I used Timehop.

I anticipate lawsuits any day now because people are buying checks just to spread misinformation. Someone pretending to be from the Chicago Department of Transportation tweeted the other day that DuSable Lake Shore Drive was closing and a lot of people retweeted/posted it on other mediums as a fact. If your platform becomes known for blatant misinformation people are going to stop visiting.

If not on the misinformation, he's certainly about to get some for non-consensually giving people Twitter Blue without removing the line that says it was purchased. Pretty sure it breaks at least one false endorsement law in the US and I can imagine other territories will have similar advertising standards etc rules

I have to say I was really surprised when I saw an article in Block Club saying that wasn't happening. I would definitely find that hard to believe but then again plenty of folks on Twitter don't worry about verification.

On the other hand, LSD northbound sucks right now because they're resurfacing from the LaSalle exit to Irving Park, and supposedly at some point supposed to go all the way up to Lawrence. I know I'll appreciate it when it's done because that's like half of my commute, but right now I'm just annoyed that it's making my commute 20 minutes longer. And that was last week before they'd moved traffic down to one lane... thank goodness I get off at 4 because it would be an even bigger mess if I worked until 5.

He's literally paying someone 5 figures, at least, to sit there and monitor dril's account for name changes. 🤣🤣🤣

Imagine, you graduate from Stanford with your CS degree, you get hired at Twitter, oh man this is gonna look so great on your resume, who cares if the company is a mess you only have to stick it out for like 2 years max, and then you're sat in front of a computer to watch dril's account all day. 🤣🤣🤣

maybe 5 figures, maybe 4 figures to a contractor on a temporary contract so they can avoid paying taxes or providing benefits

I run my company’s twitter account and a few months ago we randomly got the gold check (were never verified before despite trying really hard!!) but i guess since we paused our advertising there earlier this year they took it away from us over the weekend lol and now that you have to pay $1K a month for it and need it in order to advertise, I doubt we’re unpausing any time soon
