-Catherine Sutherland who plays Kat(herine) in the Power Rangers (MMPR/Zeo/Turbo) universe took to her podcast with fellow PR costar Nakia Burrise (Zeo/Turbo) to talk about filming Once and Always MMPR special

supporting this post by commenting but haven't watched yet. i always feel conflicted watching mmpr stuff since they were all treated like crap (financially) but glad they're getting a check now
Saban is such an ass. Wanted her to screen test with her replacement?!! I would have said no too. Didn’t even let me know I was getting a replacement lol.
DAMN no comments on this??? has the nostalgia for Power Rangers just...dried up? I feel like ppl were more excited about that Elizabeth Banks version in 2017 :(
Well I liked it but at the same time, I also wanted more, in a sense. Maybe more episodes, making a new team, more rangers from the MMPR/Zeo/Turbo eras, Idk. This was the occasion to go all out.
It felt a bit more mature without fundamentaly changing the tone and I think everyone had their moment to shine...except Rocky. They really insist on making him a dumb and not that cool red ranger.
Tbh I liked the fact that Billy and Zack (and in a lesser measure, Kat as well) had things to do and développement because it feels like they weren't involved/celebrated as much but at the same time, I expected them to be better at fighting? lol, even if there weren't as many threats, they should have felt more experienced? A la first MMPR movie.
Sadly Netflix gave them a tight budget and 2 weeks to film this. They already have to waste thousands on just flying everyone out to NZ and putting them up in housing.
I think one thing to remember is that these characters are now in their 50s lol. Actors who play Rocky/Zack/Minh are martial artists in real life but can only do so much
I am not surprised Netflix didn't gave a large budget
It is true that they are older now but I think there's ways to compensate that, maybe make the weapon or energy based attacks bigger? Or maybe a different fight choregraphy to highlight their unique style a bit more? Or even just a line like "I cannot wait my pupill to take my place, I am tired" lol to intriduce maybe a new gen?
But even if there's points I would have changed, I still felt the nostalgia and excitment upon seeing them again <3
