this universe should have been done with the Borg at the end of Voyager but the writers can never resist bringing them up. ENT did it too which made no sense. Only DS9, a show with a captain's whose backstory was ALL about the Borg, managed to resist going there

And the worst thing is that we already got Borg content the last two seasons where they went somewhere interesting as a more benevolent force, but, nope, just back to evil Borg

if I were showrunning a new Star Trek show, I'd have a requirement that they develop at least two significant and different alien antagonists that are ORIGINAL before being allowed to touch things like the Borg

Okay, what did Troi do to save the day and pilot the ship to pick up Picard, the kid, her husband and Worf? Did she sense them and piloted the ship up to their level? After it was such a tough piloting job to even get to the core? But flying up there was easy? I mean I wanted for Troi to do something interesting beyond sensing things but this was so bizarre and unexplained.

Riker accepting that he was going to die and mentioning looking forward to being reunited with their son again was strong enough emotion for her to find their exact position. And she was putting in the coordinates but I think Data piloted it and after perfectly navigating the D into the Borg cube maze rescuing the team was relatively easy.

Yeah that makes sense - the part about Riker accepting death and mentioning their son. And I guess that was totally my bad, re-watching that scene, you hear Troi muttering under her breath "I know where they are." before running to the pilot station.

In my defence a lot of stuff was going on. Yeah let's say Data piloted it, on the other hand when they had the big "hello again" on the bridge Troi was not in her usual seat next to the Captain, Geordi sat there alone so maybe in my mind I'll let Troi have a moment of glory thinking she and Data piloted the ship together. ;)

Anyway, thanks for your reply, you are obviously much more observant than I.
