The Drama Queens discussing the latter half of season 4 has been particularly grueling these last few weeks/months. They say it so often on the podcast but it sounds like Mark's behaviour really was escalating and getting worse. Their stories about what he was doing to Hilarie, Danneel and Sophia (and to a lesser extent Joy?) are ... painful to say the least

All of this! Plus, how horrifying was it to learn that both Hilarie and Danneel had situations on other shows where it was made clear that Mark had gotten in touch with the showrunners/producers in order to disparage their names?! Those were just situations that they heard about from jobs that they actually did get. There is no telling the kind of damage he did to their careers that they never even found out about.

This really bothered me. So unfair

i am glad within that industry in that country there are amazingly brave women who won't stop talking about the abuse, mistreatment and harassment they faced in their workplaces. it probably took awhile for them to reach this level of financial, professional comfort as well as their own personal recovery to be able to speak about it openly and unashamedly despite their critics. but it's not even just for themselves, they are looking out for others in their field.

the saddest part is that if they didn't kept on talking their abuser would still be working publicly, or having his comeback. (and i totally understand their fear about him actually being a ghostwriter in things).

i've always side eyed james for continuing to work with mark on his other show later, since it's clear everyone knew about his behavior and i remember hearing awful things about james contributing to the fratboy atmosphere of it all, but i know the girls have spoken highly of him

The girls have all spoken highly of him and he is also married to Alexandra Park who had the exact same issues with Mark on that other show. I’m sure he probably wishes he handled things differently, but I don’t think they would hold him in such high regard if they thought any of this fell on his shoulders.

Hilarie seems to hold some resentment towards her brother, her ex and his dad from the re-telling of these stories but not James or any of the actors really. Maybe he wasn’t as privy to it as some of the men on the crew were.

maybe, he was younger. i just remember being told a lot of stories about mark and joe davola back in the day that ended up being pretty clearly true based on how gross he turned out to be, and some of them involved james showing them sexts that sophia would send him when they were dating

Hmm I had never heard that, but I would question who was the originating source of that rumor. Because if it could be traced back to originating from Mark's mouth, I'd question the validity. Since he had a habit of going around making shit up and being disgusting -- like telling people Hilarie did cocaine and whatever it was that he told Bevin about Danneel -- I would not put it past him to tell someone that even if it wasn't true.
