[TW: rape] "Beef" star, David Choe, describes raping a Black woman in now-deleted viral video

Twitter removed a viral video of BEEF actor David Choe seemingly describing a graphic rape because he filed a copyright claim. His co-stars and friends have not yet commented, nor have producers, Netflix, or A24. BEEF is the No. 2 show on Netflix right nowhttps://t.co/YcDtWdx1kQ

Even if he was (as he's now claiming) being satirical (big IF), he's still full scum. As are those supporting such a scummy idiot.

I don't get where the 'satire' is in this? Like, what is he satirizing, and why?

Shitty behaviour is shitty behaviour - it doesn't need making fun of, because well-adjusted people can already see it for what it is, and know that it needs to be taken seriously.

I don't believe this is satire

I don't know if the situation he described happened but I defintly believe he has raped or sexually assualted someone.

I'm watching episode 9 rn, what an AMAZING show.

Also, this is most definitely not the hill I'm willing to die on but the claim that "Steven and Ali knew" as a fact makes no sense to me. Idk about y'all but I don't keep track of all the shit my friends do and it's pretty common that a friend won't fully know all your sides. I think it's 100% believable that Ali and Steven didn't know about that story, and blaming them does jack shit about holding David accountable. Fire him instead of demonizing the other two (who could very well be assholes as well, I'm not arguing that, just saying it's not really the point here).

agreed -- weird to assume they would know, but also they need to denounce him at this particular juncture instead of just ignoring it. normalize holding your disgusting friends accountable and cutting them off when necessary (it feels necessary in this moment)

Exactly, I expect them to call out his bullshit but I'm not here for people treating them as "enablers" or something. Let's focus on the real problem here, which (for now at least) is David.

Also we know Netflix and A24 are going to be silent about it, because their PR reps will say it's just "internet outrage" and "it'll blow over" instead of taking accountability. Then again, it's par the course for Netflix to give shitheels a platform, and all a studio would say anyway is "We're monitoring the situation and will take appropriate action"

Even if this is a made up story what he said was disgusting and not actually funny in any way. It's just straight up a story of rape.

Also I've seen way too many men who casually joke about rape and assaulting women who actually DO turn out to be rapists who assault women to not be grossed out by this.

I know someone who jokes about hitting his wife (who laughs with him) who has been arrested for DV.
