Yeah, both of those ships are prime examples of how "what the audience wants" is not the same thing as "what serves the story/characters," and how writers need to resist the urge to just blindly cater to online buzz.

I can't stand this show, could never get past the first few eps cuz of how awful Stephen Ammell(sp?)'s acting is...... and then all the misogyny and shit, I adore Katie Cassidy but wow is she mistreated by CW shows despite being way too good for them imho

tbh i don't believe a word that comes out of mg's mouth when it comes to laurel. it was clear even from the start he didn't like her character. how her story came to a "plateau" makes no sense either and is honestly just an excuse. remember when he made a promise to gail simone they'd honour/treat black canary well - LIES!

i don't even care about this from a shipping perspective because i hate this version of oliver and stephen amell is a horrible actor (he can also miss me with his blue lives matter bullshit).

Legit one of the worst, most disrespectful deaths in superhero liveaction history.

That they then had Oliver become a god and undead people that mattered to him like his mother but not Laurel. These people were shitstains about Black Canary from beginning to end.
