ONTD, is it sexist to be more disappointed in a woman who collaborates with a notorious abuser, than the many, MANY male artists who have worked with him since his first (or many) violent "incident"?

I mean, men ride for men. It’s like how most women have a tale of sexual assault but most men don’t know any guys who are assailants. Weird how that works out.

I can’t take credit for it. It was a tweet going around at the beginning of MeToo.
Men don’t want to fall out other guys’ shitty behavior because it typically doesn’t directly impact them.

My ex and his bff were the worst about this. When we broke up, my ex sent me a picture of himself holding a gun to his head and saying he'd blow it off if I didn't answer his phone calls. I forwarded it to his bff who lived down the street and begged him to go check on him. (I also called 911, I don't play around with suicide threats be they serious or in his case just a ploy to manipulate me.) anyway - my ex's fam found out and asked his bestie if it happened (him holding a gun to his head) and the asshole LIED and said I made it all up. Like, he saw the picture with his own eyes and was there when the paramedics showed up and he just lied for him ( ... )

It's certainly less surprising that lots of male artists have worked with him, so idk, is being less surprised the same as being less disappointed? To paraphrase RPDR, if you stay disappointed, you don't have to get disappointed. 😒

I think it’s just so hard to reconcile the betrayal we can’t help but feel. Of course we expect only the worst from men so it feels less personal.

I definitely can’t enjoy anyone regardless of their gender after they work with him or show him support in any way.
