if anything it feels like capturing the feelings you had at the peak of your affection for that person and constantly having to relive them (by performing them) would hasten the fizzling out for some people. a constant reminder that you once loved more and felt more compared to now would be hard to live with.

that is a really good point! I'd also think that, on the flipside, in a solid relationship those songs would be a sweet reminder - you've settled now and you're not madly in love anymore, the love has deepened, but performing these songs reminds you of those early days and maybe revives those feelings for a bit?
it always makes me laugh when teenagers or ppl in their early 20s are like 'being madly in love your whole life is what a relationship is!!!' girl that would be exhausting. you'd never have time for anything else. you'd never sleep well again. I wouldn't wish that on anyone
