In Mulaney’s “Stories from the Show” video he mentions auditioning with Donald, Ellie Kemper, Nick Kroll, TJ Miller and Bobby Moynihan, and this was back in 2007.

it’s just one of these moments where SNL missed out on great talent but probably for the better. like Jordan Peele was supposedly going to make the jump from MADtv to SNL to be their Obama impersonator but he couldn’t bc of the MADtv contract and not signing on for like eight seasons where the show had no clue HOW to write for a good Obama impression. Donald Glover ending up on Community and getting the right kind of audience for himself. Jenny Slate got on SNL and her career is so much better than most of the people hired during her season who stayed on the show for season 36!

yeah a lot of people think she was like immediately fired, but she stayed the whole season and actually had kind of a decent one for a featured player. The Lonely Island put her in some of their digital shorts, she did a few cold opens, she even had an original character recur twice. it’s a lot like what happened with Casey Wilson on the show, people just didn’t connect at the end of the day and neither of them got on Weekend Update and did a piece which is really something that can make or break featured players in their first year.

That's fair! And... I don't thinks his career would be as prominent and highly regarded as it is now, or maybe it would have taken longer for him.

I feel like Mose (can't remember his real name wtf) and the other P&R writers would've written to his comedy skills a LOT bettet than SNL could. I feel like SNL would sideline him like they did so many black dudes, but P&R gave us so many memorable characters and niche character actors.

Something about calling Mike Schur by Mose is making me cackle.
