Boygenius released 'the film', a long music video encompassing all three of the first singles off their new album 'the record', which came out today. The videos were directed by Kristen Stewart.
She is so hideously tragic as a director. A first year film student at USC could do better than this, and she's directed several bad music videos already.
They had no budget for lighting or shampoo?
Talk about being a nepo kid. When I think of all the struggling young directors who actually have talent, bad videos like this are annoying.
Two of the three songs are enjoyable, it's a shame this "film" adds nothing. So ridiculously pretentious, too.
I saw pictures of Kristen Stewart at the premier of this and she was going almost full Terry Richardson. I’m talking plaid shirt tight jeans and thumbs up open mouth pose. All that was missing was the hideous glasses
from your description I was expecting worse!! lol. I think the glasses are a huge part of it for me, so this seems fine, whereas with the glasses I would be repulsed.
I think she looks a little different, too.I am guessing it's the combo of having her hair dark for the first time in a while + her cheeks thinning with age.
Hard to answer my own question here!! I think Not Strong Enough is my favorite song off the album in general, but for non singles?? For now, I'd say Satanist + Anti-Curse.
We're in Love is beautiful, but it feels like it could be on a Lucy solo album. Not a bad thing!
I wish more of Julien's solo stuff sounded like her contributions to Boygenius, because damn, I love her songs on both of these records.
As a 20+ year Bright Eyes stan, Phoebe's verse + "method acting" reference on Cool About It... oof, my heart.
I really loved the interview, they are so fun together.
