tbh with the way Dany's character rapidly devolved over the last two-three seasons, her death was a like putting a terminally-ill animal to sleep.

At the very least, her trajectory in the books is more thoughtful and consistent in how it depicts her accumulation of power (coupled with her Targaryen lineage) taking its toll on her mental well-being.
The show did none of that.
