It’s true. Can’t remember why they changed it up (I think fear of homophobia), but I remember reading how they intentionally left a lot of the girls’ physical interactions the same as if it had been a lesbian love story.

JRM was so hot to me in that weird way of his in this, but even though I’ve seen the film a 100 times at this point I always think “HIM?!” when Jules gets upset. Like my brain can’t comprehend that she wasn’t pining after Jess, lmao.

yeah. the only explicitly gay character i remember is the dude Jess's parents are trying to get her to marry, and wouldn't the scene where he offers to marry her just so she can pursue her dreams have hit differently if they were BOTH gay?

ugh. its like how i once read that in the original script of Love Actually, Andrew Lincoln's character was supposed to be secretly in love with his best friend, not his best friend's wife, which would have been so. much. better? stop het-washing things, people, you just ruin it.
