Yeah, I don't buy that she's never eaten an egg. She's at least eaten food made with eggs, since eggless baked goods weren't too common until recently.

This was my first thought. Tell us why. Elaborate. Like you've never had a cookie or cake, (or most baked goods) or mayo or Asian noodle or fried rice dishes? Like eggs are in lotssss of things. Just say you don't have anything more interesting to say and you don't know anything about food and go lol.

I don't find the hamburger thing as unbelievable. Improbable but not impossible. I prefer steak sandwiches over burgers tbh. I don't like most burger buns, and steak is healthier/less unknown ingredients lol. The rest of the ingredients are the same tbh

Maybe this is like Julie & Julia where she has had things with egg in them, just never an actual egg by itself, like a soft boiled egg

I honestly find the best veg/vegan burgers are the ones that don't try to be like meat burgers. They can be good but when you find a place that gets creative with ingredients...whew I have had some FANTASTIC black bean burgers. My friend and I ended up going back to this place called Vegan Cat Bar in Barcelona, their burgers were just insanely good (and the patatas bravas, I'm drooling)

Is she vegetarian? Or grew up in a non-Western country? Or a secluded religion? If so, maybe I believe her. Otherwise, bulllllshiiiiiitttt.

There are Mcds and hamburger places in the boonies of desert countries. There was a street vendor a block down from my grandma’s house in Mexico. We would walk down to get our burgers and soggy fries when we were hungry. Maybe she was poor growing up?

Oh, I was thinking more from a cultural perspective, like maybe a country where hamburgers are just not a thing. But I think also, how specific is she being? Like I get that someone might never have eaten beef because of their religion or culture or dietary preferences/requirements. But is a burger only beef, or could that encompass chicken, veggie patties, etc.

I don’t know, I’m spending way too much time thinking about some random celebrity’s throwaway comment.

Or grew up in a non-Western country?

That's how I didn't try any American junk food until age 22/23 when I moved to Ohio for grad school. My classmates (half of whom were cops lol, of course) bought me my first hamburger.

Now I'm eating a Shake Shack burger, although I'm pretty much a health nut 95% of the time, but that's largely bc of my tastes and having little appetite for some reason that I'm still trying to figure out the cause of.

My bio-parents taught little impressionable me (and my brother who was BORN in the US, but we only spoke Russian at home, so he learned English at age 6 in 1st grade in ESOL) that hamburgers, and other junk America food, are so addictive that the first time you try them, you get so addicted that you can't stop. And then you get obese super quickly, and since you can't stop, you DIE. That shit worked.

Their cult indoctrination skills were impressive, albeit terrifying.

Only Recently Tried an Egg

And I'm allergic to eggs, so I'm gonna pay for this burger bun in the AM.

This reminds me of when Selena Gomez’s friend on her cooking show didn’t know what salmon was, was really confused about the concept of fish in general and didn’t know how much “two thirds of a cup” was. I’m laugh
