Hoping for a Tár surprise sweep. I know EEAAO will win everything, which I’m fine with. But Tár was my favorite movie of the year.

Finally saw All Quiet on the Western Front. A strong, unoriginal WW movie. Very depressing.

Being the person that thought EEAAO and Tar were the best two of the year is hard, but I liked Tar more I think. And I'm not just biased because I've been Todd Field's #1 ONTD supporter since Little Children came out lmao. I really did love it!

I love Field's work ("In the Bedroom" lives rent free in my head) and I prefer Tár over EEAAO bc the latter was one huge panic attack for me and too bro-ey of a film. Like, the cringey aughts humor was awful to me.

But I also dislike Blanchett so much tbh (lesbian sin, I know. I also don't like most cats), and want either Yeoh or Riseborough to win (I said what I said).

I wonder if this will be the last we see of Todd Field for 16 years again before he disappears back to anonymity and the PTA in Maine.

I wonder if he MIGHT win Best Director because of that. Like I could see Daniels winning Screenplay at the sacrifice of Best Director (even though I think they should win BD).

At the least someone should just give him some money if only because he's at this point guaranteed to get multiple Oscar noms for anything he makes. He does not miss. I wonder if he was offered the chance to direct Twister 2 but I doubt it lmao but that would be hilarious if he was.

Apparently Danielle Deadwyler sought him out at an event to discuss how much she loved his work and they’ve struck up a friendship. This is how we’re going to get her her Oscar!

I would be happy if Stephanie Hsu wins best supporting but I really, really want Angela Bassett to get it.

Same. I’m sad that the momentum seems to have stopped here.
