I don’t know about matinee concerts but I feel like the main act should start at like 7:30/8pm like Broadway shows. I don’t like waiting until 9pm.

My first instinct is to whine about eating an early dinner at 4:30/5pm but thinking about it, having shows overlap meal times is a brilliant way to get people to spend more money. Everyone's gotta eat; have someone walking up and down the aisles selling food like they do during baseball games if there's assigned seating. Better yet, have the option to order food at the time you buy your ticket like you would for international flights.

Yeah I just feel like there’s always a bunch of waiting around at concerts and you never know when the main act will start so I just want a concrete time! And you can eat during the warm up act. This sounds bad but I usually don’t care that much about the warm up act, I feel like they should just launch into the main show.

I agree. But try waiting until 3am…it’s not unusual for acts in my country to not go on until the early morning hours. It’s ridiculous

all the concerts i want to see always end up being on weekdays and i always end up being way too exhausted after work to fully enjoy it. i was excited for months to see dua lipa but i had a rough day at work that day and then couldn’t fully get into the concert because i just wanted to go to bed. i wish they would start a few hours earlier for us non-teenagers.

Or I often have to go at least an hour away to see shows so it’d be nice if I could get home at a decent hour during the week.

That train ride home after midnight, dead on your feet and your ears ringing - then having to walk from the station to your house that late, ugh - is a terrible way to cap off even a great concert.

Imagine if they ended at a decent time. You could unwind with a gelato and people watching for a bit, while still getting home for a hot shower and some Netflix before bed. Heaven!

when i saw st. vincent during the masseduction tour she didn't have an opener and she started the show at around 8:30 or something like that. i'm pretty sure i remember leaving those shows at like 10 or 10:30. very refreshing. i didn't see her last tour so i'm not sure if she did the same again. that said, she plays venues and not arenas. i imagine an arena trying to fill up during rush hour so that a concert can start by 7 or 8 for an early release would be just as taxing for some as leaving a show late.

But apparently the traffic is that bad and the crowds can be that big that people straight up can’t get into the venue in time sometimes if they’re not there just outrageously early. So then you gotta take a day off your job anyway I guess
