Artists should not really consume too much of the criticism that is put out there because they are generally not the target audience for it, and a lot of criticism will not be helpful to their art anyway. I think good critics explore why they liked or didn't like something so as a consumer, I can decide whether I might find the thing interesting or not. But a lot of critics just like to be clever and slag people off/just gush about something in very superficial ways, and that helps no one.

When it comes to film critics, I think there are some who will never get some films, because they're male and/or white.
That film critic's review of "Turning Red" is an example of that.
