say it does not allow users to impersonate others

but...isn't that literally the whole point? cmon.

this shit is terrifying, and changes to law are not happening anywhere near far enough. didn't some Twitch streamer have someone make deepfake porn of her? its repulsive. it really could ruin people's lives.

Is this different from that FaceSw*p thing because that shit was also disturbing? Like, you could facesw*p with any celebrity or video footage or something but the app itself was giving the content to facesw*p with.

Deepfakes are disturbing and could be really harmful especially for people living under corrupt governments. Any corrupt politician can say "That's a deepfake, that's not me." and yell "I'm being a victim here!" and all the idiot citizens who support them would believe.

or make damaging videos of their opponents...i feel like Trump's campaign could make a video of Joe Biden biting the head off a baby and the Trumpkins would 100% believe it was real

You KNOW they believe him!

I was thinking of the government of my country. They did and said so many shitty or downright bizarre things that at some point, they'll say those were deepfakes. LOL

it can also be used for revenge porn and even if it isn't actually the person whose face they're using it leaves a digital footprint that might hinder your chances of getting a job in the future, among other things
