that's what I came to say-DDL has never done a romcom to my knowledge and Shakespeare in Love was absolutely not dramatic

I think the closest~ thing he’s done to comedy was playing Cecil in A Room With A View cause he’s uppity and almost camp in it.

i know he's a committed actor and everything, but given the time frame, i wonder if he wasn't drained from having just filmed schindler's list when he did this screen test and probably wasn't feeling up for acting all lovey-dovey just to woo julia roberts
