I just watched Triangle of Sadness which has a somewhat ambiguous ending. Apparently the writer/director says it's like a 'choose your own adventure' and you decide what happens [Spoiler (click to open)]and i feel pretty confident abigail killed yaya but it was the last shot of carl running through the woods that confused me
[Spoiler (click to open)] It's pretty clear Abigail killed her. Plus Dolly De Leon and the director confirmed the kill. She did not wanna go back to a life of servitude...When Yaya tells her she can be her assistant, that was the point of no return cause she was hesitating on whether to kill her or not.
The final shot of Carl running implies that Abigail went through it cause he knew her well enough by then to see what she's capable of.
it's so interesting to me that PL legit starts on a shot of the ending, but almost everyone I've ever watched it with or talked to about it was shocked by it when it came around again. It doesn't register, somehow? the ending is such a gut punch.
I thought No Country For Old Men did a great job just ending it without wrapping things up in a nice bow. That last monologue by Tommy Lee Jones is fantastic.

I didn't watch The Sopranos, but I remember the uproar. I remember a lot of people saying that they thought that their tvs stopped working lmao.

It felt like a giant ‘Fuck You’ to all the viewers.
