I never connected to this show, but that sucks.

I will miss seeing Disco show some of the most beautiful parts of Toronto (the Aga Khan Museum stood in for Vulcan) and also some of the most depressing. They barely needed to change anything at Ontario Place to make it seem like a derelict space station.

watching STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS and the way they use Toronto’s neglected Ontario Place and the Cinesphere as a rotting, derelict space station kind of breaks my heart. pic.twitter.com/SgctXFJQTu

Yeah, I wanted to like it a lot more than I did. It felt like it never fully found its feet.

I feel like it doesn't have the same heart as Trek of the past specifically because that sort of earnestness is out of style.

Everything being cutting edge special effects and the most epic, life-or-death stories didn't leave any room for side plots about someone trading self-sealing stem bolts for a shipment of tula berries so you get to know the characters a little.

Honestly, I'm fine with this. It's my least favourite of the new shows. Everything was just too epic and end of the universe and there was never much time for fun.

And I never really got over how they made Saru a captain just to immediately undercut him.

I’m still mad about Captain Saru. I was so upset at the end of season 3 that I put off watching the next one until it was done (and I still haven’t finished it).

I wanted to like the show so badly but like you said it was just never, ever fun.
Every storyline was super tense and life or death.

I will miss space dads :(

same, it was just too much all the time. not every episode is an opportunity for a grand michael speech, come on.

i wanted to like it so much more than i did. for now, i feel like strange new worlds is capturing this vibe way more.

welp

I legit just commented saying I'm quitting the show

I loved Michael, but it was immature as fuck and stupid as hell sometimes. I couldn't watch past the episode where the non-binary kid gave the sentient space ship a pep talk about how to handle an anxiety attack. It legit was just too much.
