I just learned the BAFTAs have never even NOMINATED Denzel Washington for anything. Like yes, England is still like 80% white so I'm not expecting them to be all "DIVERSITY YAYA!!!!!" but......

It’s so wild how out of all the performances, only white people somehow have the most skill. Funny how that always happens! They must all have little gems of movies/tv series, can-do bootstrap attitudes, and perseverance. When you white, you right!

After white producers greenlight scripts from white writers that are filmed by white directors who cast those white actors in the first place.

"person of the global majority" is a really weird way to put it

for nominations the BAFTAS have a comlicated jury system no one really understands, as in a small jury determines a certain percentage of the nominees and not the whole voting body.

could very well be that all the not white nominees were jury saves and once everyone voted this happened

Yep, the specifically introduced the jury system to get more diverse nominees, but then when everyone votes they still pick white people.

From what I understand, in every acting category, the top two vote getters are directly nominated and then the jury picks the rest of the nominees between the next five potential nominees. I'm pretty sure that all the POC nominees in recent years except Will Smith last year and Michelle this year are jury saves, as BAFTA is so obviously racist.

they changed it slightly this year and now the top three vote getters are directly nominated and the nominating jury picks the rest of the nominees from a pool of seven (next four vote getters + three jury saves from the longlisting jury)
