There is something really funny going on among these Black British actors. Daniel Kaluuya was also on some similar BS when he was doing press for Judas and the Black Messiah. It's weird when these actors from the UK talk about how they faced limited opportunities in the UK, come to the US, and then whine about how they don’t want to be known as Black artists. Like the problem isn't the label, it's the racism? What's not clicking? Losing the label doesn't stop the racism.

Also, being known as a Black actor should be a point of pride because Black actors have to have the range. Denzel can do Ibsen, Shakespeare, AND August Wilson, but Tom Hanks can't do August Wilson!

there's a weird vibe where they primarily work in the american market but then resent/have issue with getting treated the same way black american actors get treated? you're working in the US, a black person is a black person regardless of where they're from, how successful they are, how much money they have

just look at how horrible birth outcomes are for black mothers no matter what their education/income levels are, which typically improve circumstances for health outcomes for other demographics

💯 Side note, I wish these “I’m not Black I’m British” actors and actresses would also acknowledge that because of racism and classism they are viewed as superior to Black American actors and actresses and have an unfair advantage in casting when it comes to the very few and limited roles for Black performers……I can’t stand these fools. And they are fools.

I can’t with these new blacks and their attitudes toward being black, racism, oppression and systemic issues. Like they are sooooo dumb they can’t even see that it’s not about them or the individual. These are large societal issues and you not wanting to “box yourself in” by not calling yourself Black doesn’t do jackshit.
