I understand that it is important for us in therapy to come to conclusions ourselves, but sometimes I wish my therapist would just say things straightforward to me, TELL ME WHAT TO DO
Damn I was the opposite. I kept asking for tools to stop being an anxious mess and her advice was just like, “don’t worry about it!” Lady, I’m here to see you because all I do is worry. About everything all the time.
I was very much outside of her scope of practice (her focus was working with holocaust survivors), I should have searched elsewhere for care, but you know, insurance dictates who you see 🙃
Advising anxious people to just "don't worry about it" is terrible advice under any circumstances, that sucks ):
I hope you get to see someone who's more aligned with what you need in the future. I did start therapy because of my anxiety and even though sometimes I want to understand things in a more direct way, she did help me a lot
Late to this post, but wait.. she told you to not worry when you have an anxiety disorder AND she works with holocaust survivors?? Who has allowed this person to be near any of you?! Get her license revoked, tbh.
I'll watch this when I get Apple TV back (likely when Ted Lasso returns).
I Love Brett - his podcast is truly delightful and I could listen to him talk forever. His story about accidentally auditioning to be a background dancer for the "Mama Mia" movie will never not make me howl.
