No the movie is fine and she's great in it. It just had literally no attention until like a few weeks ago, while other actresses have been working and campaigning for months and months and months.

The movie came out early 2022 and made less than $30,000 and has been absent for Award season. Meanwhile, Viola Davis and Danielle Deadwyler have had critical acclaim and buzz throughout the season and some nominations in the awards circuit and seemed like locks to get Oscar noms.

Then out of nowhere a week before oscar noms are announced, there is this weird onslaught of praise for her performance by all these big name random celebrities. Davis and Deadwyler are completely snubbed; Andrea gets in.

I haven't seen the movie and don't know if it's actually good but the way so many rallied and championed behind this actress is a symptom of a larger problem: where are the Mary McCormacks in the industry for POC? Why haven't talented POC been championed as they should?
