Oh finally, that Joanna Scanlan movie is getting more release! She's been winning awards for it since 2020, including a BAFTA. I just love her and have a huuuuge crush.
I cannot believe I'm seeing the trailer for Jamie Tate from Emmerdale's gay movie. I really disliked what they did to his character on Emmerdale, so I'm glad he's doing well after he left. I also saw that he confirmed on Insta that he's not straight. Anyway, the movie looks good, I'm definitely going to check it out.

I watched Till on Monday, with a Q&A with director Chinonye Chukwu afterward. The film is a pretty standard biopic, but it'd be a good watch for those who are not familiar with Emmet Till's story. Danielle Deadwyler is excellent, as usual, and I can't wait to see her in more things.
I'd seen a Q&A with the same director after watching her film Clemency at AFI Fest, and it was interesting how this time she talked about how the success of that film impacted her in both positive and negative ways. Most directors tend to talk pretty effusively about the upsides of success - bigger budgets, major studios - but not about the identity crises that success can bring out.
The producers brought Till to her, she had a number of conditions for directing (it would be from Mamie's POV, with no violence on screen), and she didn't ( ... )

Seeing Missing tonight (half-price popcorn day awww yeah buddy), EO on Saturday (finally!) and a double feature of Alice, Darling and finally Skinamarink on Sunday. And then The Son on Tuesday bc the timing's better and I'm less excited for that one, lol. Intrigued by After Love!
