That show had so many trash men. Whedon, Marsters, Boreanaz and Brendan… the show didn’t have the best luck.

I have a vague recollection of him texting his mistress at the hospital while his wife was in labour.

God, I love her. And I know she's telling the truth that she'll never share her full story cause it's surprising she's even come to saying this much.

But it’s OK to love ‘Buffy’ for what we created because I think it’s pretty spectacular.

I really appreciate this, though, as somebody who found Buffy as a pre-teen and felt really emotionally tied to it in my most formative years.

Same here. I love the show & am not a fan of people now changing their mind about it because they no longer like Whedon.

I'm really glad she said this too, there's so much of her character and the friendships in the show that are still meaningful, even if behind the scenes and some of the later storylines were so awful.

Same. I’ve been very conflicted about the show since it all came out, to me tbh it really feels like he wins when I praise it bc it is his show and he wrote and directed most of it tbh and I’ll prob stay conflicted - it absolutely is just very tarnished for me now, but it was such a huge part of my life lol so I love that she said this.

OP can you add the part about her watching s1-5 with her kids and her despising and refusing to revisit S6 with them at this age or ever.

Lol I did a rewatch starting on Halloween and stopped at the musical episode. Not only is it not a fave of mine at all, the show just went to downhill from there.

Fuck Marti Noxon for trying to figure her own abuse that she did on her boyfriend and using it as a map for spike and Buffy.

Yeah season 6 and 7 is such a disaster after the musical episode. I can still find things to like about it but overall is feels like the writing just nosedived in the weirdest ways

I'm a completist so I bought the DVDs for S6 and S7 when they came out but I really had no intention of watching those seasons again. A few years after the show ended, I did a complete rewatch of BtVS and AtS. I thought that maybe with some distance, I would like S6 and S7 better but nope. I did one more complete rewatch about 10 years ago and came to the same conclusion. Now I've just accepted that I can do a rewatch through S5 and then pick a few episodes from S6 and S7 (OMWF, Tabula Rasa, and sometimes random episodes like Storyteller).

I feel for her. She worked her ass off and probably doesn't want it tainted for everyone. And doesn't want the legacy go to the toilet even though that's what Whedon deserves.

True, but yeah I’d argue that it was truly the cast members that made this show great considering they are the ones that brought it to life. Had it been a different cast, the show would have flopped.

I just don’t want to give that fucker so much credit lol

SMG doesn't get her due. She was a force. Look at current shows. I can't think of many young actors who can carry a show like she did. The dedication she had for the role. The whole female cast. The prick was lucky. The girls deserve the credit. I give him zero.

HONESTLY!

I’ve been listening to the Smallville podcast, and Tom Welling has said a few times that he would not be able to now do the show with the full awareness of the pressure it is to be the main character in practically every scene.

It made me think of SMG, and of how Freddie said that one of the points where he realised he was falling for her was when he noticed how tired and overworked she seemed and he wanted to take care of her.

There were whole strings of episodes where you can tell she’s working through a head cold.

She honestly kind of doesn’t need to say much more about Whedon, I feel like we can all connect the dots on our own.
