Hugh Jackman: Bryan Singer’s Behavior on ‘X-Men’ Films ‘Would Not Happen Now’

Hugh Jackman acknowledged Singer’s alleged unprofessional on-set behavior, saying there was conduct on the set of the first “X-Men” movie that would not happen today, but he didn’t know how to stand up to it at the time on his first American production. https://t.co/nVjkkqHSYl

I feel like this is thoughtfully answered by him. I definitely will always appreciate someone saying 'I don't really know how to articulate this well so I won't' vs. just popping off at the mouth.

Hopefully more people feel comfortable coming forward and this can be a turning point in getting Singer ousted in some way.

Yeah Hugh def knows about it cause due to Bryan's drunken negligence he made him do a stunt that the stunt team had told Bryan he shouldn't do cause it came with risks. Bryan kept wanting to do it anyway and Hugh obliged to get it over with....ended up with Hugh falling and suffering a concussion. The cast was pretty mad especially Halle who yelled "he can kiss my black ass". Idk who found him but Bryan had been drinking more while Hugh was concussed iirc.

ETA: For some reason I can't find the original article but here's the gist!

"The closest Singer got to any sort of reprimand or punishment for his outrageous behaviour was during an awful incident during the filming of X-Men 2 that left Hugh Jackman injured and threatening to quit the role of Wolverine, and an entire cast revolt against the fustercluck of a director ( ... )

the most infuriating part is i remember how nerds back then (and even still today!!) heard loose rumors and twisted it into singer and halle beefing over her being ~difficult and were gleefully crowing that he fired her from x3 (then whining when she returned)

here’s the og article for anyone who hasn't seen it, it’s worth the read:

I actually really liked how he expressed himself in this. It feels thoughtful and respectful and when he didn't want to speak further about it didn't look like he was trying to ignore the issue, just like he said, it's something complex that he doesn't know how to properly voice.

I never see the point of putting actors on the spot like this but Hugh handled it well. There are people much higher up who actually have the power to oust Singer forever. His antics have been a badly kept secret for at least decade now. Start putting pressure on the studios to stop working with him.

Higher ups in the industry have the power to silently get rid of all these abusers, make sure they never work again, they do it all the time with women especially, we’ve heard so many stories, but truth is… they don’t want to.

lol right?? “post-metoo” my ass

i still remember when elliot page spoke out against brett ratner and anna paquin was the only one who vocally supported him (though she nudged shawn ashmore and aaron stanford into signal boosting, too). i remember thinking why are the other millennials the only ones backing this up when page said everyone was there?

halle and alan cumming said as much as they could about singer pre-metoo and as marginalized folks they both had way more to lose than the other adults on that set. i’m tired lol

yeah like the first big sexual assault of a minor lawsuit against singer was in 2014, and 20th century fox hired him as director of bohemian rhapsody in 2017 knowing it was gonna be their tentpole oscar bait film that year. its just a joke

I feel like if even Hugh Jackman has something to say about you - you're fucking awful. (i.e. Hugh's stunt accident). Yikes.
