in perhaps the first of many clues that I would never want children, I had zero interest in baby dolls. Cabbage Patch Kids were the rage when I was little; I thought they were particularly UGLY baby dolls. baby dolls who wet themselves and cried? horrifying to me

people would gift me one and I would stare at them in confusion, as if to as, the fuck am I supposed to do with this

but Barbie? Barbie was a doorway to imagination. Barbie could be literally anything: the President, a doctor, an astronaut, a princess, a teacher, and even when me and my friend were being young pervos, a prostitute. I lived for Barbie. I had so many Barbies. I played with Barbie probably later in age than I was willing to publicly admit for fear of getting mocked

I had memorized all the songs to my cassette of Barbie & the Rockers: I wear pink/that's my shade/when I wear pink/I've got it made/D-d-dressin' up!

and even I have like zero interest in this film? idk, it gives me too cute by half vibes. I don't need Barbie to be anything but Barbie

Same! I hated dolls, especially “realistic” baby ones (plush animals for the win!)
But Barbie was everything (after Matchbox Cars and My Little Pony). I also played with them to a later age lol (my sis is four years younger; she needed a playmate is what I tell myself.)
A highlight was replaying General Hospital scenes

big same to everything you said. looking back, a major appeal of barbie was that i didn't have to take care of barbie.

Same. And when my aunt gave me a pregnant Barbie I always removed the belly and the baby before I played with her lol

I can only take Will Ferrell in small doses. Also, I’m still a bit baffled by all this Barbie press. It’s giving too try-hard

Same. I have faith in Greta but I hope this movie doesn't become another Don't Look Up, where the satire is too obvious and the movie is merely stating what everyone has already observed.

And I'm still sad they are not gonna use Aqua's song.

And why are they going this hard this early in the process?

Twitter’s demise is all fun and games until you realize it might happen before the Barbie movie comes out

I remember Margot saying it's nothing like what we think it is but I get the feeling it's probably gonna be what everyone think it'll be.

But anyway still looking forward to seeing Barbie beat Oppenheimer!
