I'm glad to know she's been out of touch her whole life

This just reminded me that she herself has kids but they don't seem to be in the business and now I'm wondering how old either one is. Surely at least one of them is in their 20s by now? who can never be sure.

That’s a lot to read but Gwyneth Paltrow is interesting because 1. I don’t think she’d be nearly as famous as she is now if she’d just done acting, and 2. She’s become more famous than her famous parents, right? Or is it just a generational divide?

Her father was enormously successful but not a household name because he was a producer.

Sorry for the very late reply, but I think being Brad Pitt's gf solidified her place in Hollywood. I used to be his fan (I'm ashamed to admit that now) and remember reading an article saying that she carried a mug with Pitt's face on it on the set of Emma, so she was already arrogant and obnoxious back then.

ooh that’s a good point, hadn’t thought of that. Yeah I think having a really famous SO helps push someone over the edge from famous to Very Famous

"Gwyneth is well known as the actress every designer wants to dress," Vogue Editor Anna Wintour writes in the editorial. Paltrow, she remarks, qualifies as "simultaneously chic, accessible, natural, friendly and warm."

I.E., skinny, blue eyed blonde. She was constantly in the tabloid fashion sections when I grew up. (They regularly disparaged her small breasts, dubbing her "Paltry Paltrow." But her fashion itself was lauded.) I remember just faithfully believing she must be the greatest actress alive, because movie reviews, magazines, and then even the Oscars said so. Then I grew up and realized she had been deliberately overrated. I do think she's a good actress, but one of the best? No.

That quote made me confused because I've never gotten a "friendly and warm" vibe from her tbh...

As a child of the '90s, the vibe I always got from her was hippie pothead with formal school upbringing, if that makes sense.
