Elizabeth Debicki was truly the only good thing this season. That and the kid that played Harry.

i’m on episode 4 and so far, it’s not pulling me in like past seasons but it’s not as bad as i expected based on early reviews. imelda inhabits the role perfectly (as much as i like olivia as an actress the transition from claire’s elizabeth was super jarring) and i agree with everyone saying elizabeth debicki is spot on too.

Talking about jarring transitions, switching from Vanessa Kirby to HBC (as much as I like her) for Margaret did it for me. I feel Lesley Manville is now more in line with the idea of the character once again.

[Spoiler (click to open)]for some reason I was sure this season would end with Diana's death, and when it didn't... I was left disappointed lol. But we're really close to it timeline wise, right? so... next season, it would happen in the middle, no longer than that. It's kind of a season finale moment, but not series finale... so what is there to tell in the 5ish episodes after her death? and how?

[Spoiler (click to open)]I suspect there will be a full ep devoted to Margaret and the Queen Mum's death. They died only a few months apart and that had a big impact on QE2.

I wonder if we'll also see Edward and Sophie's wedding and marriage. Just like... in contrast to Liz's other kids first marriages. lmao.

And Charles and Camilla getting married.

And they cast a college aged Will and a Kate Middleton so I guess we'll see them meeting.

There's still stuff to tell.

[Spoiler (click to open)]oh yeaaah I forgot about Margaret and queen mother, even if I did watch a documentary about the queen shortly before this season lmao. I'm one of those people who know nothing about the royals and is in for the wild ride that is The Crown with that pov

was there anything special about Edward and Sophie?

blergghhhh at Charles and Camilla tho yes, they have to tell it

very interested in William! I think the perfect ending for the show tho is Harry and Meghan breaking away from the monarchy. I know that they haven't done so fully (judging by some comments on here), but it's the perfect bow to wrap a story about a family that has made the same mistake multiple times of not letting its members marry who they want and be their own people

[Spoiler (click to open)]I would guess that the show is ending with the 60th Jubilee in 2012, so pre-Harry and Meghan. Possibly might also end with Will and Kate's wedding in 2011 just because the show LOVES saying goodbye to casts with a nice Group Wedding Portrait shot. But if the show wants to go as far into the future as 2011, then I'm guessing they'd might as well go into 2012 for the Diamond Jubilee.

Edward and Sophie were just... a non-dysfunctional first marriage for Liz's kids. Anne and her second husband Tim are quite normal too. And obvs Charles and Camilla finally got to marry. But when it comes to first marriages, Edward and Sophie just managed to not fuck it up. haha. I just think they might tell it just as a contrast.

Plus I think Liz and Philip got quite close to Edward and Sophie in their later years so they might show that. Idk though. Maybe not, just because the show isn't as interested in the characters that are not closely connected to the Crown itself. And Edward is the 4th child.
