To be honest, I once also got a job because the first pick moved on. Didn't involve any grey wigs nor bath time, though.

We had that happen at my work. The person who was meant to start picked another job just before she was meant to start. Only she was all "Your company is my top pick!", clearly not LOL.

seems wild to me that if Cavill was unhappy with how the show was being written, netflix kept the writers and let the star go.

If they pushed him that far to the point that he quit, even if they had offered to do that I’m not sure he’d have stayed. Once you’ve had that “snap” moment where you’re just done, a lot of the time you don’t even care what people suggest to fix it you just want out. I’ve had that with prior jobs before where nothing they could offer would have enticed me to stay, was just over it.
