How does Barrowman’s testimony help the defense?

Rapp's testimony was that he and Barrowman went home after the nightclub outing, Barrowman said they did go with Spacey to his apartment that night but Rapp stayed in the bathroom.

Though I don't think it's a huge discrepancy, and Barrowman also said that Rapp later told him there was a second encounter which lines up with Rapp's own testimony on what happened.

They'll probably try to claim that since Rapp 'misrepresented' the night he met Spacey, it follows that he 'misrepresented' what happened after the party and that he was either drunk or tired and it's all a hallucination or Rapp jumping on a bandwagon.

His recollection of what happened on the night that he and Rapp met Spacey differs from Rapp's testimony.

After the three of them had dinner together, Spacey invited Rapp and Barrowman to his apartment. He said that when Rapp was in the bathroom, “Playfully, Mr. Spacey pushed me back” on to the bed, and lay there talking to him with arm draped over him. He said it was “probably not the best [situation] to be in if Anthony came out of the bathroom" so he moved Spacey’s arm away, got off the bed, and when Rapp came out of the bathroom said, “We should get going.”Yeah, so? That doesn't actually contradict any of Rapp's allegations! In fact, this testimony shows that Spacey had already previously pushed younger men down onto beds and draped himself over them. Plus, what would seem 'playful' to a young adult at 19 wouldn't seem that way to a 14 year-old kid (who looked even younger). Of course Barrowman didn't feel intimidated, he was already physically grown and he was a legal adult who could consent to a relationship. Rapp was neither

It sounds like the story that Barrowman and Spacey are putting forward is: "Rapp and Spacey were never alone together, in fact Spacey was hitting on Barrowman, and Barrowman left with Rapp, so nothing could've happened".
