That show was horrible.

I also blame the writers of LOST for popularising that trend of flashback B-plot that sucks up precious time and leads to the laziest narrative shortcuts. This structure only works when the writers are competent enough to pull it off. With Arrow, and Once Upon a Time, it only resulted in both the present-day and the flashback plots being massively underdeveloped.

Also, fuck Ollicity.

Olicity has to be the worst ship of all fucking time. imagine tanking your show with an iconic comics couple for a poorly written OC Mary Sue.

Not to mention pushing out THE Colin Salmon to make it work because she never originally even liked Oliver, she joined to help save Colin's character!

I hated the idea of a Batman-esque Green Arrow. Give me Ollie Queen who's a loudmouth liberal!

I would’ve actually loved to see that.

it truly blows my mind that they managed to take something as simple as one character and screw it up so bad that by the time the show ended there were three separate characters named dinah and five different versions of black canary. katie cassidy deserved far better than this show and the CW career she was stuck with

She didn’t seem to mind it since she did sign up for the Canaries spinoff that was eventually canned because of the pandemic.

She knew being part of a successful franchise is easier than starting over again. And getting a spin off where she could get material is always a bonus, esp since it would've had new showrunners

That and then there was the thing where some characters were just unrecognizable.

One of my favorite characters in the comics is Connor Hawke, who is the son of Oliver and took over for him as Green Arrow while he was dead in the 90s. (He got better, because comics).

The "Arrowverse" has a character named Connor Hawke... who is the son of John Diggle?!

Why? Why take the characters name and slap it onto a different, essentially unrecognizable character?
