Last weekend, #Venom star Tom Hardy won first place in a Blue Belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament in the U.K.

Hardy faced off against martial arts veteran Danny Appleby in the tournament’s semi-final match. Appleby called Hardy a “genuinely a really nice guy.”

“I was shell-shocked,” Appleby said about Hardy’s showing up to the event unannounced. “[Hardy] said, ‘Just forget it’s me and do what you would normally do.’”

I saw a video of him competing and I need someone to explain this sport to me, they were just weirdly holding each other? I've done Judo in the past and the goal seems similar but there is so little movement?

There was no striking in the jiu jitsu classes I went to, it was all about grappling on the ground.

I took judo when I was a kid, I assume like judo you're ... finding a way to take down your opponent even if it takes while & you're in a weird position.

Wiki says Jujutsu translates to "yielding-art".
