I've read the first novel and know what happens in the next two. Her character shows up at the literal very end of the first book and hardly does anything important at all until the second novel. The only way I can see her being a big player in the sequel is if Dennis added in a decent amount of the second book, which is possible bc I know he loves Messiah (2nd book).

Regardless, I'd say she's def using Dune as an A list excuse to duck out of a C list shit show... can't blame 'er.
