I watched the first ep of this show and couldn’t get into it because the tone felt too light and silly. Does it get better?

All things considered, I think the first ep is the weakest one so far. Things get way more interesting once she gets back to L.A. (so episode 2 onwards). I'd say try episode 4 (stand alone episode) and if you're not into it then it's probably best to drop it.

I googled the actress who plays Madisynn and didn’t find much about her, but is it safe to assume that she’s part of the billionaire Guggenheim family?

When she was first shown in the trailers I thought it was SNL's Chloe Fineman for a moment. Then the episode happened and I was like "They do look similar but not THAT similar" so maybe you were thinking of someone else.
