It's one thing to be a judgmental person. It's another entirely to sit down and write down all the awful things you are thinking and then send your diatribe to the person you are judging. And for a mother to do that to her own child! I just can't.
But the absolute gall to follow that up with a request for money.
When people talk about how terrible Hollywood is, they often focus on predatory directors, agents, and other people in the industry but as we've seen from Jennette and Britney, sometimes the predators are also the kids' own parents and family members. Instead of protecting these children, they are eager to exploit them because they want to make money off of them. I can't imagine how it must feel to know that your family expects you to put yourself into uncomfortable situations so that you can pay for their stuff.
ngl, when i first heard her book's title i was like "oof that's a bit rough" but the more details come out it's like "fuck it i'm glad too." what an absolute nightmare, having to live with that.
i hope the process of sharing her story will help her to heal, she seems incredibly brave but that kind of trauma must leave all kinds of scars.
It just goes to show the level of entitlement that underpins it all. Your child is not a person they are there to serve your needs. You can disown them in one breath and demand they pay for your shit in the next.
I'm so glad that she's been able to make the rounds with her book and that's it's being so positively received. For her to be in a place to be able to share her experience on her own terms and find success in illuminating just how bad parents in general can be - a lot of tweets on this I've seen have been praising how this will open the conversation to abusive mother-child relationships - is incredible too. With every excerpt I've heard it's just made me more curious about the book, I definitely want to pick it up.
And yeah, after all THAT the P.S. REALLY sent me. Like why would you not try to at least pretend to be nice if asking for something??! Mind blowing
