I clicked so fast after seeing John Boyega and Nicole Beharie's names on the top vid that I didn't get to the end of the line to see Michael K. Williams also listed. I was legitimately shocked as hell to see him.

August has been an unusual month for me when it comes to movies, so far I saw a grand total of 1 (one!!) and it wasn't even a good one (Father of the Bride - the HBO version)

Planning to see some from the streamings this weekend and Nope next week since it was finally released here today!

Going to see Three Thousand Years of Longing tomorrow... looks wacky, but I love Tilda & Idris so I hope I enjoy.

Movies I've watched this week:

On the Count of Three (Hulu): This was not nearly as good as I hoped it would be. It's a very black comedy, which I knew going in and didn't mind at all, but the script could have used work. I thought the concept was interesting and unique, but the execution wasn't there (no pun intended). I think Jerrod Carmichael is hilarious, but he's a stronger stand-up than he is an actor. I do appreciate Christopher Abbott's dedication to picking off-the-wall roles.

Boyz n the Hood: The Academy Museum had a screening of this film this week, chosen by the Actors branch, and Nia Long introduced it. She spent most of her intro talking about John Singleton. <3

I'm double-featuring Three Thousand Years and Breaking on Sunday; might get to The Invitation next week. Kinda wish the trailer hadn't given EVERYTHING away, but I'm happy to see Nathalie Emmanuel and Stephanie Corneliussen (justice for Joanna Wellick) in stuff.
