Movies I've watched this week:
On the Count of Three (Hulu): This was not nearly as good as I hoped it would be. It's a very black comedy, which I knew going in and didn't mind at all, but the script could have used work. I thought the concept was interesting and unique, but the execution wasn't there (no pun intended). I think Jerrod Carmichael is hilarious, but he's a stronger stand-up than he is an actor. I do appreciate Christopher Abbott's dedication to picking off-the-wall roles.
Boyz n the Hood: The Academy Museum had a screening of this film this week, chosen by the Actors branch, and Nia Long introduced it. She spent most of her intro talking about John Singleton. <3
