2x1: I’m Coming Out: First Time in Drag In the dazzling season premiere, 9 celebrities from different walks of life leave their famous identities behind to embrace the miracle of Drag.
I was able to identify Fabulosity and Chick-Li-Fay based on their voices. Fabulosity's is so distinct that I knew it was her right away.
Chick-Li-Fay's isn't quite as distinctive, but I recognized it during his interview, and what he said about his background confirmed his identity. I'm 99.9999% sure that it's [Spoiler (click to open)]Kevin McHale (Artie on Glee).
There were a few other contestants whose voices sounded familiar but I couldn't place them. Hopefully they will get to talk some more in the upcoming weeks so I can try to figure out who they are.
I really liked the first season of this show so part of me is disappointed that the format was changed, but I like this version for what it is. I can't blame Ru for taking advantage of the Masked Singer format and its popularity.
It sounds like most (if not all) of the celebrities this season are older which means I'll have a much easier time guessing who the celebs are.
I am looking forward to seeing how many different shirtless costumes they can come up with for the backup dancers every week.
Fabulosity was just too easy to ID just because of the voice--I'm fairly certain who Chic-Li-Fay is, Donna Bellissima too. Whoever Electra Owl is, they're a boomer bc that song choice and the "choreo" kind of gave away their age.
I know Jackie Would's voice but I can't place it just yet.
It's okay, but because they're keeping their identities a secret, without the magic of making them into drag queens it feels a little flat. I get what they're going for with this format but it's very much background noise for me.
I was looking at my phone through most of this. I liked the first season and seeing the celebs getting ready, figuring out their characters and interacting with the queens more. I don't watch Masked Singer or American Idol, etc so this format is not really my vibe.
