I watched the Gray Man it was super boring and I stopped paying attention halfway through. Tried watching Netflix’s Persuasion but also couldn’t finish it. Dakota’s acting really took me out of it, the difference in her accent vs her family’s was extremely noticeable and that whole breaking the fourth wall thing just didn’t work. Too many “sly” eye rolls to the camera and it quickly lost its effect.

I finally saw Nope and this is a testament to how much I enjoy Jordan Peele as a filmmaker because I DON’T EVEN LIKE HORROR GENRE lol (*most of the time, I do watch some). I enjoyed it. It had some uneven moments but it was watchable and kept me engaged. I like the way Peele weaves cultural realities as horror metaphors. Peele and Kaluuya are a good pairing. Imo the whole cast did well, especially Keke. I had a few look-away moments because I’m squeamish that way, and fuck Gordy that shit was insane.
I’ve been asked to go see the Pets movie with my friend and her son and 😬 idk. Vengeance looks intriguing in terms of the premise so I said maybe we’d find a theatre where they’re both showing and I’d slip over and watch my film while they watch the Pets film, then we’d hang out afterwards.
Nothing else in this week’s list that’s available to stream looks good so now I need recs on what to watch!
