The X Factor UK released never-before-seen footage with insight into exactly how One Direction was formed on the band's anniversary.

Interestingly Nicole Scherzinger was the one who saw the vision and not Simon Cowell

I'm surprised that it really were the judges that decided the band members. I always thought they just said that for the show and that a bunch of producers actually made the decision.

Wel isn’t Simon Cowell the executive producers of most of these shows? It makes sense he’d make the decisions, at least back then
