No thoughts on her makeup yet but this might be a good place to ask some skincare questions:
Has anybody ever used a facial steamer for their acne? I’ve been eyeing one at Walmart for like $30 bc my acne has been OUT OF CONTROL since I got pregnant. Nothing cystic in a few weeks but I have tiny under-the-skin ones on every inch of my face and a few large raised ones. I’ve always been acne prone around my t-zone but never to this level.
I’m sure part of my problem is that this kid makes me tired af and I have not put any real effort into my skincare in like 3 months. If I remember to moisturize and put on sunscreen, it’s a good day.
Yes I started for acne and now I use it to clear up my sinuses!!! Best $ I have ever spent, I got a comment the other day from a mua I know that was like "damn your skin is clear!" And so are my sinuses.
Do you remember about how long it took to start working for you? I know everybody’s different. But I have an impossible pipe dream of having clear skin before I take maternity pics at the end of the month and I wanna know if I should just lower my expectations😅
I currently use the body shop face creams with spf - aloe/spf15 indoors, vitamin c/spf30 outside. I’m interested in mineral sunscreens but I’m concerned about whitecast since I’m a BW.
Anyone know how biossance rates? I’m also interested in the new Tatcha mineral sunscreen but it’s not available in Canada yet. Any other mineral sunscreens to recommend?
I use spf50 pa++++ on my entire body every time I leave the house. I usually has La Roche Posay anthelios body spf 50. For my face I use Isntree, Biore, Beauty of Josen....I find sunscreen from Korea/Japan to be the most beneficial to my skin. Super strong and totally weightless. People don't usually apply enough spf, you want aboit 1/4tsp for your face. So 10000x more than Karen used here. A thick line of product on your first and second fingers will do it. Reapply every 2-4hr depending on level of activity and sun exposure!
Also it is very important to remember the tops of your hands, feet and any exposed leg between your trousers and shoes. It can be a big gotcha area for melanoma because we don't think about putting it on that gap.
Also check out @scamander14 on insta. Julian is a dark skinned black man obsessed with spf. He has a great database he created and always gives accurate info re: cast on black skin. He's a biomedicine PhD student, so he knows his shit
I’ve been using it as a mask for like 3hrs before I go to bed and even with that amount of time it’s great. I tried it for the full night last night, I’m a side sleeper and I can’t with the texture and it getting all over my pillows. I wish I could keep it on for the night.
Seeing her with no makeup makes me realize how similar my skin is to hers! My cheeks are just much, much ruddier. I've never had allergy tests done so I wouldn't be surprised if I had some allergies fucking my skin up.
I basically never wear makeup, especially to the foundation + powder, but watching this makes me want to because her whole look here is so natural and subtle! I love it.
I´ve been contemplating Drunk Elephant but I always find it too expensive to actually make the purchase. Once you get into K-beauty, I feel like there is no need for EU/US skincare brands anymore
I use the Protini Polypeptide Cream by Drunk Elephant. I ran out in March and tried to make do with other things because it's too expensive, but I just broke down and re-purchased. I've only used it twice and my skin is already twice as good as it has been for months.
I've tried minis of other stuff from them and wasn't super impressed. Though I will say if you're interested in the Protini I was able to tell from the mini how well it worked for me.
My favorites from them are the protini, lala retro, b-hydra (probably my fav bc you can mix this with anything), and the TLC framboos
everything else I can live without and can find better products from other brands, but overall their moisturizers are really great especially if you like scent-free stuff 👌
for less expensive moisturizers that are comparable I would check out belif™
