This is my favorite of the season thus far. Fun, entertaining, vaguely Twilight Zone-y, fairly balanced use of the cast, Bortus got more than 2 lines (fivehead!), a callback to my favorite S1 episode.

As soon as I saw Liz's name in the credits, I was expecting her to be the being screwing with the crew, and I was not disappointed. I love that she even had Charly acting like a snotty little shit in her hallucinations, she really read the shit out of them.

but the alien lady at the end is giving me some Q vibes.

Yeah, Q-ish with a Tron lewk.

Throughout the episode I kept joking that Q was behind this lol.

This is the same Liz Seth mentioned on his Insta, right? The woman he sings duets with? I don't know her outside of that context so I was expecting to see her sing or something lol I need to look at more of her work.

Yes, same Liz! She's on Dynasty, and she's from the same Nickelodeon show as Ariana Grande. We've had a few posts about here & you might recognize here from these 2 memes:

This was my favourite episode so far, but I wish the ending wasn’t as anticlimactic. Like it was all an experiment? Okay. Maybe she’ll be in another episode - maybe they can ask her to get rid of the Kaylon.

It was a nice callback to one of my fave season 1 episodes though (which reminded me of the Blink of an Eye ep in Voyager).

Very glad we got more Bortus, and happy we got less of Charly.

Ahh, I'm so glad the writers were able to step up their game because most of S1 was a pastiche of better ST episodes.

I liked it, but urgh, another awkward ending.

It was nice to see Lamar on the bridge, at the conn, making decisions.

I'd like for them to explore the potential of the Kaylon hologram tech bit more, if that part of the simulation was an indirect warning from the species about the Kaylon, I would definitely be into it as it has a good few possibilities.

I liked seeing Lamar in the captain's chair, too!

I figured that was a red herring on Dilan's part to keep them distracted while being put through her game.

I really wish I could watch The Orville but every time I do I see Seth MacFarlane's face and remember how unfunny I personally find him. It looks really good /cry

Please give it another shot :) There are so many good moments that don't even involve him. I don't like his humor either but I absolutely adore this show. And after season 1, they tone down that style of humor by quite a bit.

The "so many good moments that don't involve him" works for me. I will try again. Thank you!

LOVED the nod to continuity of a season one episode. This show doesn't forget its previous plot threads and brings them back in surprising ways.

That said, holy crap it was tremendously FUCKED up of that alien race to use them to experience the feeling of death, whoa.

I appreciate how each episode so far has been completely different in tone.

Insert wearenotyourshamu!!!.gif from the zoo episode from 01.02.

I couldn't find a workable URL to use for it anywhere 🥲
