why even do persuasion if you seem to fundamentally misunderstand its main character. every smirk, every funny aside to the camera... idk who that is but it's not anne!!!!!!!!!! i love characters like emma and elizabeth but it was anne that i really connected with out of all austen's heroines. i loved her quiet inner strength. i see none of that here.
i should feel achingly sad watching persuasion. i should FEEL the longing on the screen. not whatever this is.
If it were any other random modernized period piece I could be persuaded to baselessly enjoy it à la Bridgerton, but if it's masquerading as Persuasion it's completely missing the point
agreed! reminds me of what they did with the haunting of hill house. they want the title so fans will watch thinking it's gonna be a faithful adaptation, but it's just not the same story at all.
