idk about the other people but charli xcx tiktok was from when she was going all out with "this is my sell-out era where i do everything for my label" so it was very targeted marketing/her leaning into it, because she's always said she adores tiktok funnily enough. doesn't take away from the point other artists wanna make ofcourse

As someone who barely uses TikTok, I feel really disconnected from popular music nowadays. I feel for artists who want to create music and not viral moments.

i agree. on the other hand, i've had to mute several smaller independent artists i'm friends with b/c i'm so sick of their tik toks and incessant attempts to gain social media followers. i miss passing CDs / cassettes and... as lame as they became... MTV / VH1.

It’s like a catch 22, if you go with a big label you get situations like Halley’s but if you go independent you have to do this because how else are you going to get an audience
