B+ seems incredibly generous, lol. I was reasonably entertained for two hours, and the extremely lively opening night crowd made it a fun movie-going experience, but it's a "C" at a max.

[Spoiler (click to open)]The script and the plot were both incredibly weak. I liked America Chavez, but I wish they'd given her more to do. The CGI in some of the scenes (especially in the "space between universes" or whatever) was so bad I was kind of shocked it made the final cut.

I somehow went in completely unspoiled for cameos... my audience lost their MINDS at the John Krasinski reveal. Excitement was highest for him, Patrick Stewart and Hayley Atwell (and Nicole Kidman before the movie, ofc). The fanservice in that scene was a lot, and the way they all got mowed down in five minutes kinda took me out because it just shows you how much plot armor all the normal heroes have on in any given film.

Glad other people are enjoying, though, and happy to see theaters raking in some money. They certainly need it!

I think this was just the beginning for America Chavez and tbh, I’m excited to see more of her after this. She was fun and I actually like her friendship with Strange better than I liked most of his interactions with Peter… tho I sort of feel like they were trying to replicate the tony/Peter father/son relationship vibe?

But I heard one reviewer say that by them giving the audience a ‘we here you, so we’ll play in your sandbox for a minute, but only *this* much. So they’re giving x here because they’re definitely not casting x in the movie as that character.

I think America has potential? But she was a bit two-dimensional here. I definitely think they are cynically trying to replicate the Tony/Peter dynamic, but it’s not quite working

I feel like they kind of did this with Donald Glover in Homecoming too - even though he wasn't playing Miles Morales the fact that they had him in a fun little cameo appearance was sort of a wink to all the fans who had wanted him as Miles!Spider-Man.

I surprisingly didn’t mind [Spoiler (click to open)]John Krasinski as Reed. Honestly the casting I’m anticipating more is Sue. If they keep Krasinski as Reed, I hope they cast POC for Sue and Johnny.

i did mind it because the stunt casting was very distracting in that scene, which was probably chockful of plot but i was distracted by them

I hated it. It looked like an actor and not a character wearing a costume if that makes sense.

The suit looked too small.

I liked it but I didn’t love it. I feel like the MCU has become an inconsistent mess after Phase 3 with no clear structure that made it so great in the pat. for instance Loki, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange 2 all talk about the Multiverse, yet it seems like they have nothing to do with one another.

… death was some The Boys kind of send off, I was shook

This phase is trying to do too much and it’s getting messy imo. Moon Knight and Shang Chi were my favorites things of this phase so far and they’re the most self contained stories.

I just wish they’d stop trying to connect everything.

As much as I love MoM, NWH and Loki, it is indeed weird how none of them are connected. Maybe something coming up will tie them together? Idk.

And its still falls behind SONIC 2 re: CinemaScore!

[Spoiler (click to open)] lol seeing the screenshots of Reed Richards, didn't know these random late teens knew who Krasinski was. "WE WON" what did we win, bestie? Jingoism?

it's got the same score as fantastic beasts and people are still bleating out about how that was the worst movie in the history of cinema meh

The RT score difference between this and FB3 is jarring, tbh. Controversy aside, no way Multiverse of Madness is 75% and FB 47%. No way.

My audience during the film was screaming before they understood what they were screaming about lol [Spoiler (click to open)]I live in switzerland and was sitting near a bunch of teenagers and they squealed when they saw john....There's no way this guy is well-known at all here and even less chances anyone care about the 4 fantastic after so many bad adaptations...Also they screamed before they even saw charles...

it was OK in the way all the phase 4 MCU films have been mediocre so far, and honestly I would add Endgame to that list too. It's gotten to the point where they're just packing so much stuff in a movie and then relying on fanservice and hype to keep the audience entertained instead of actually bothering to tell a story, good or bad.
