I'm a frequent flyer so I typically get to the airport 30 min before boarding; security usually takes 5-10 (with PreCheck) and then that gives me enough time to grab a coffee or a drink in the lounge. My SO has definitely shown up 10 mins before boarding and just walked onto the plane, but that's usually due to LAX traffic and not intentional.

I'm surprised they let her check her bags; usually there's a cut off time and it's definitely earlier than 30 mins before departure.

Last I saw (aka two weeks ago haha) the cut off was 60 minutes, so I was surprised by that too.

I think a small airport might let you do it up to 45, but I mostly fly JKF-LAX and it's 60 at both.

Maybe she checked in before she got to the airport ? Can you still do a bag drop if youre late but already checked in?

I ended up leaving my house about an hour and a half before my flight on Christmas eve last year. Thankfully the airport is, like, fifteen minutes away and I paid more to park in the attached garage so I didn't have to worry about waiting for the shuttle and thankfully it wasn't busy at all so I made it, but, oof, I was stressing out.

Depends on when the flight is. If it super early in the morning maybe less than an hour. Busy flying day or in an airport I don’t know at least 2 hours.

I have clear and precheck so I usually show up an hour to an hour and a half before my flight. Two hours if Im traveling with my kids or dogs

I also have Clear and precheck, and after having had covid in 2020, I have legitimate stress from being around large groups of people (and have to take anxiety meds to go to the airport now, thanks long covid!). So I want to be in the airport as little as possible. 75-90 mins is my preferred now.

I had it in 2020 too and currently right now 🙃 I just flew from Boston to Las Vegas and then to California. I was shocked at how many people werent wearing masks in the LAS/SNA airports. No one gave a shit. I mask wherever I go and Im not looking forward to flying with absolutely no mandates in place :/
