I plan on watching this but due to the subject matter I have to be mindful of how much emotional bandwidth I can lend to it before it puts me into an existential depressive spiral that I have to claw my way out of

I just finished watching the series. I could only manage an episode or two at a time because they were so disturbing. I knew going into it that HH/Playboy were exploitative and awful but I was not expecting some of the things that were revealed.

I've been watching this when I visit with my mom so I haven't seen the last episode yet, but what a nightmarish story. I do wish this got more attention? Because Hef really lived and died his wretched life without consequences. Who knows how many girls and women he assaulted in his life, god.

And you gotta feel like for every Playmate or former bunny who is actually talking, there are dozens or hundreds more who aren't saying a thing. It makes you really wonder what kind of stories some of the big names like Jenny McCarthy fared? Because it doesn't seem like anyone was safe from the horror, honestly.

I watched the last episode and I have to admit I hate that they always bring up a gotcha type story in the last 4 minutes and then don't really explore it. In this episode it was about the playmate pictorials ending up on "dirty websites". The women were shocked, but I feel like this information could have been in the main series and properly fleshed out about more how playboy used women as commodities.

I also feel terrible about the women who were traumatised, but I feel a little weird that there seems to be little accountability (on screen) about their contribution to it all. It sometimes felt that some of the statements were " the bad man made me do it" and not also an apology to all the women that they were forced to hurt. Maybe that is a protection thing, but I feel like this would have also strengthened their positions.

Overall depressing.

Yeah, I don't get why Playboy selling all their pictures to a massive porn company wasn't a bigger part of the episodes, especially since they had a whole episode about what changed when like the Playboy channel or the internet came along. It would have fit perfectly in that episode and they could have devoted more time to it, especially since apparently the "outtakes" were extremely explicit and the women would not have wanted those out. Leaving it to the last part of the last episode felt like a disservice to me.
