The BAFTAs were a super spreader event

Covid apparently cut a swath through the BAFTAs and a lot of the nominated directors and actors aren’t here at the PGAs tonight because of it https://t.co/HXcPyTdr4O

It’s wild to me that people hate masks so much. I will likely never breathe raw airport air ever again. I’ll never have unprotected inhalation in the grocery store either.

Right? I'm happy to wear my masks in these places. The country I live in has dropped most of its Covid restrictions but you still need to wear masks in public transport.

Masks are great. Pollen season is about to start again and they've been so helpful for allergies.

Mask mandates were lifted here maybe a week and a bit ago - twice men said "you don't have to wear that mask you know." Gesturing to me.

Yeah I KNOW - I haven't had a cold, flu, strep or a million other things I usually get in the past 2+ years. I'm wearing masks in indoor spaces for a long time.

I didn't know how to respond. "AND???" may become my go-to.

tell them you're sick and start coughing, they'll change their minds real fast.

The CODA surge is baffling and a bit depressing to me.

I think THE POWER OF THE DOG is a masterpiece and deserves best movie, best actor and best supporting actor (Kodi) but I understand that it’s a very divisive movie with lots of vocal detractors.

Which is fine but if you don’t want to give it all the Oscars, then WEST SIDE STORY is right there!! It’s greatness is as uncontroversial as you can get in this race and it will stand the test of time unlike that glorified Lifetime movie.

I’ve openly stated that I don’t like PotD but honestly I think this is a year where none of the top films will stand the test of time so I’m inclined to say it doesn’t matter that much.

West Side Story was pure trash. Lol this whole post is full of insane takes... I can't believe we all live on the same planet.

I don't get why it's so hard for some people to wear masks. In my country, you can't go into a store without a mask, but I was watching The Strokes on Lollapalooza yesterday (on TV) and the place was crowded and there were no masks in sight.

I think for a lot of people, masks are such a major visual reminder of what’s happening and they just want to believe it’s over so much that they think they can will it into reality.

There's that, but also, from the beginning, there have been a lot of people who think that having to wear masks is "against their freedom", and they're the kind of people who keep spreading the virus. Here, it's mandatory to wear a mask if you use public transportation, and there are assholes who wear a mask to get on the bus or subway and then take it off or lower it.

frandappery March 20 2022, 16:16:20 UTC
Or maybe they're uncomfortable and people in general don't love their (sketchy) government telling them what to wear and when? It's not deeper than that.
